symptoms of PD

Vision

  1. I recently learned from my Optometrist that the reason I have chronic dry eyes is that people with PD forget to blink. Needless to say that took me by shock. He told me I need to remind myself to blink; as well as to take Fish Oil tablets to help with the dryness and to use Systane Balance eye drops. I don't find the eye drops work at all. Does anyone else have this problem; dry eyes; if so what do you use? I also feel as though my eyesight is getting worse; although at my last eye doctor appt he told me my vision was fine. Hard to believe because my vision always seems slightly blurry. I would love any input if anyone else has this problem and what you've done for it.

    1. Since I have chronic dry eye as well as macular degeneration I am very aware of any vision changes and thankfully have not experienced any. I do see a retina consultant.I use Thera tears a few times daily since I spend a lot of time on my I pad. I try to remind myself to look away from the screen every half hour and focus on something in the distance for a bit.Not blinking as often also occurs when we use electronic devices. You may want to check out the ChronicDryEye.net site for some valuable tips for dealing with this problem. Wishing you the best. Thea DeStephano Community Team Member

      1. Thank you for the input Thea; I will definitely check out that website.

        1. I see an optometrist who runs a dry eye clinic. I use prescription eye drops. I too have blurry vision most of the time even though my prescription is corrected to 20/20.
