Gastroparesis

Besides not sleeping, I am having trouble with gastroparesis whereby motility of the gut hinders it going through the digestive system. I was prescribed 10mg. (it is sent from Canada) and I take it 3 times a day. It works sometimes. What other medications might work? I eat very small amounts over a day's time, which unfortunately has caused weight loss. Does anyone else have digestive issues? I have had PD over 13 years when I was first diagnosed. Having this situation makes it difficult to eat with the family.

  1. Koline, I take Meletonin for sleep. I take C/L 3 times per day 1.5 pills. Diet is critical and this Site can be a great source of information. I would be reluctant to add medication without consulting with my Doctor. I don’t have digestion issues. 13 years with this diagnosis is significant.

    1. What Is C/L

    2. carbidopa and levodopa or sinemet

  2. Thank-you Mike. I have tried several different Meletonins and do use them at times. I have a couple of doctor apptms coming up so we will see what they say.

    1. Thank you for your article, Koline. I have digestive and sleep issues also. I take Melatonin at night to help with sleep. I also eat small meals several times a day. I do not eat solids and liquids at the same meal, because it fills me up. Doctors can prescribe an appetite stimulant to help with your appetite. Also, use extra spices and sweeteners in your foods to improve your taste sensation and desire for food. I wish you success!!

      1. Thank-you, Marc, for the suggestion about solids and liquids at the same meal. I sometimes take melatonin. My GP prescribed a sleep help which really did help (very similar to an OTC med.) My appetite is usually quite good.,,,just hard to eat enough to keep my weight on.
Best wishes for your journey also.
