Parkinson’s? Reaching Out

Parkinson’s?
Started with Foot drop?

(2013) 10 years ago approximately, my wife noticed something up with my foot while walking on the beach in Bucerias, Mexico. This lasted for about 2 years, (apparently not) then I thought it had gone away. It was I think foot drop as my left foot slapped along as we walked the beach.

At the time motorcycle riding which we did became very difficult and I changed to what’s called a heel shifter as I could not use my foot to change gears up or down. Ended up liking the heel shifter but at the same time I also had noticed an involuntary twitch from my right shoulder that came and went?? Really thought it was not really that bad and I guess lived with it.

Fast forward to summer/fall 2022

Over time since the original feelings I have been having some strange sensations and tremors in my left hand as well as the shoulder twitching on the right side increasing over a number of years.

So after much deliberation I went to an appointment with my local GP to describe these feelings. He checked me out with what he called a cognitive test, and said yes, you still have foot drop. Surprise cause I didn’t think so, but the test said otherwise. Then he proceeded to check the tremors and said it is definitely essential tremor with possibility of Parkinson’s.

Fall 2022 and winter/spring 2023

I’m noticing a significant increase in the left hand tremor which has also now started in the right hand. The right does seem to come and go where as the left hand is continuous when doing simple things like holding a cell phone or doing anything physical. Also notice that my hand (right) writing at times has gotten quite shaky.

I’m not sure if it’s normal or not but over the last year it’s like an internal vibration is happening. Its not noticeable to my wife but I can feel it, inside.

I have bruxism that was diagnosed by a dentist in Mexico 11 years ago which I had not thought was of any relevance.

Not sure if anyone else can provide any insight to these feelings but after so long I felt I must reach out to a community that may provide some answers to the building questions.

Many thanks for reading, any comments or help is much appreciated.
