Run walking?

I’m writing about my Dad who is getting conflicting diagnosis.

His symptom is the his walking is off. It’s sort of a shuffle but he starts leaning forward and gaining speed until many times he falls.

It’s very scary. One dr diagnosed PD and started him on Ritary, but it didn’t really help.
Another Dr said it’s not PD.
At this point we don’t know what to do, trying to find the right dr to help has been challenging.

I guess my question is, has anyone have experience with this problem?

I’m in the Chicagoland area and could use some direction.

Thanks

  1. Moni It is frustrating trying to get an accurate diagnosis. Have you seen a Movement Disorder Specialist? The Parkinson’s Foundation can give you information on the specialists in your area. Please let us know what diagnosis your Father gets. It can be a slow process but a movement disorder specialist has additional training and is well versed in the process of diagnosing Parkinson’s. I wish you all the best.
