Dementia Related to PD?

My ex-husband (and dearest friend) was diagnosed with PD in November, 2019 although he experienced tremors long before we went to the neurologist to be diagnosed. I’ve noticed more and more lately that he’s interpreting information incorrectly, mainly from the TV (politics). For example, he called me today very upset about something he heard on TV. When I went to verify the info, I found that only about 10% of what he told me was accurate, meaning he was mistaken in 90% of what he thought he heard.

Is this dementia from PD?

  1. I am so sorry to hear what your friend is going through. This is an excellent topic for his medical provider, as we cannot offer medical advice via Internet. I did share some information on the topic of dementia and PD here - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/clinical/lewy-body-dementia-differences. And https://parkinsonsdisease.net/answers/lewy-body-dementia. And https://parkinsonsdisease.net/caregiver/managing-dementia. Lastly, an article on cognitive changes in PD - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/symptoms/cognitive-changes. Hope this information is helpful. Kindly, Jessica (Team Member)
