The leaflet should be positive and reinforce the growing immense studies (in animal models and now in human clinical trials) that exercise is medicine for treating Parkinson's. Keep doing whatever exercise you enjoy, just keep moving. The recommendations in the U.S. have been updated, and it is seriously a lot of exercises. I recently described the recommended exercises this way for another publication:
•Aerobic exercise– Plan three days per week for 20-30 minutes per session of continuous movement at a moderate (50-70% HR max) to vigorous intensity (70-85% HR max).
•Strength training– Plan two to three non-consecutive days per week at 20-30 minutes per session to strengthen the major muscle groups using resistance, speed, or power focus.
•Balance– Plan to practice maintaining one’s balance at least two to three days per week.
•Stretching– Plan to stretch daily, and if possible, several times per day..
Always have a medical disclaimer to discuss any new exercise program with their Neurologist before beginning any exercise program/routine.
Your idea to make this leaflet is admirable, good luck. Frank Church for the PD.net-Team
