(Possible) Depression advice

Hi, my dad has parkinsons. He's in his late 80's.
He's just come out of hospital after another fall where he partially broke his hip.
He has had his op, but now confined at home to a medical bed while it heals.

My question is....
My mom (who I think has dementia), rang me at work today sobbing because dad was crying 😢

When I went to see him, after work, he said that he feels sad all the time.

Can anyone suggest tried and tested activities, that he can do in bed to keep him occupied?
He no longer wants to watch TV or listen to the radio.
He is very much out of sorts.

  1. Thank you for your comment, Blossom. You may have done so already, but have you contacted his physician to ask for a social worker or a psychiatric, psychological evaluation for your dad. They may be able to help. Regards, Marc M., Moderator, parkinsonsdisease.net

    1. Hi , I just wanted to follow up and see how your dad has been feeling? How has he been recovering over the last few weeks? Best, Lauren (ParkinsonsDisease.net Team)

      1. I take pristiq for depression and klonapin for anxiety, no miracle drug but it takkes a little of the edge off. I see a psychiatrist and a therapist from time to time.

        1. Hi Blossom 3 Would your dad be interested in doing any puzzles or word games? Are there any creative projects he might enjoy trying? Sometimes just listening to music he enjoys or perhaps reading or rereading an old favorite can be a good distraction.
I hope he is doing better as he heals. Thea DeStephano Community Team Member
