Any Positive Experiences of Being a Musician with YOPD?

Any stories/examples/insights in to carrying on playing with PD. I am 38 musician pianist diagnosed last year; don't know what to expect. My eyes are wide open but respectfully please only share your thoughts if they are positive- I can use these to help me keeping going. Hearing that someone can't play at all any more won't help me at all. Thank you so much.

  1. Hi Tomtom - thanks so much for submitting your question. I'm so sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I hope you know that you're not alone in this. While we wait for other's to chime in, I wanted to share an article I found about a pianist with Parkinson's here: http://www.mcall.com/entertainment/music/mc-gene-ginsberg-parkinsons-beth-el-20150918-story.html. His PD has not stopped him from playing the piano! I hope this helps give you some positive perspective. Please keep us updated! - Chris, ParkinsonsDisease.net Team Member

    1. Thank you very much Chris; I saw this article soon after I was diagnosed and it cheered me then and it was good to be reminded of it now. It's my first time on here so your prompt reply is a real boost.
I certainly will keep you posted!
      Tom
