Sad Outcome

My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2011. September 2023 my husband went through deep brain stimulation (DBS). There were three steps: first was dropping the wires alongside the brain on each side, second was putting the battery under the chest and running the wires down to them, and third was turning everything on. The surgeries went great, dyskinesia stopped, but when they activated the DBS that same day he started falling down, it was like he lost control of his arms and legs. December 2023 my husband went into the hospital for the fifth time and never came home, he died June 2024. It was a horrible experience for both of us and I never thought I’d lose him. DBS was supposed to set him back 10 years and it took his life. I really think it all happened with the simulator being turned on. It was up too high. Something was zapped that shouldn’t have been because he was strong. Physical therapy couldn’t help him because he had no control. So that’s my sad story.
