Notifying Employer of PD

When do you suggest notifying my employer of my parkinson's diagnosis? I know my shaking is noticable, my voice quieter and I tend to be a little slower but can still perform my required management functions.

  1. - Thanks for posting your question! While we wait for others to chime in with their experience, I thought I'd share two articles that may help in your decision: https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/continue-working & https://parkinsonsdisease.net/resources-work. Hope this helps! - Chris, ParkinsonsDisease.net Team

    1. Thanks for the info.

      1. Hi Harley! I'm retired but still work part time at a Mom and Pop hardware store. I told them about my Parkinson's and they have been very understanding about it. They realize what I can do and what I can't. Best of wishes to you

        1. I only let my direct supervisors and close colleagues know. My actual boss doesn't even know yet. As long as I can do my job, I see no reason. Maybe somewhere along the line I might say something if it becomes relevant working more with him. I've only been there for 2 and a half weeks. Unless someone spends close time with me, you can't tell anything is different about me. I've got a tablet if I ever need to write a lot, and that's it.

          1. Hello, Hi Joanna, I just inquired in your previous post to see how you did in your two interviews- it looks like you started a new job according this post- congratulations! I hope it's going well for you! All the best, Suzanne Troy, team member
