new treatment

I am just wondering if there is new treatment for PD. One of the local hospitals in Michigan has an commercial on T.V. it states they are turning back the clock on PD When I go for my check ups I am told nothing new so is this just alot of hot air on tv?

  1. Hi thanks for reaching out. I am wondering if they are referring to Produodopa, here is some information about it: https://www.parkinson.org/blog/science-news/produodopa. Jill (Team Member)

    1. I researched it they make the medication, which seems promising, but insurance does not cover the cost over 2000, who can afford that

      1. that is outrageous, hopefully the costs can come down/ insurance will cover after all the clinical trials are done. Jill (Team Member)

    2. FDA approved VYALE (name of us drug used with the pump) Oct 17, 2024 I looked up the cost over 2000.00 I called Blue cross was told not covered, what's the point? If it is not attainable to us that are suffering

      1. I can certainly understand your frustration. I see the medicare patients will be covered the second half of 2025. This article has some links that may be able to help cover VYALE: https://news.abbvie.com/2024-10-17-U-S-FDA-Approves-VYALEV-TM-foscarbidopa-and-foslevodopa-for-Adults-Living-with-Advanced-Parkinsons-Disease. I hope this is helpful. Jill (Team Member)
