Moving onto a narrow boat, good or bad idea?

My husband and I are considering selling up and buying a narrow boat for a better quality of life. I have had Parkinson's Disease for 10 years, i'm 56 years young. Any comment regarding our idea is very welcome. I would to hear from any PD people living on the cut or any other alternative lifestyle. I thank you all and wish all a happy , safe and fun life. xxxx

  1. I admire your spirit and sense of adventure. My son lived on a 27’ sailboat with his 60 lb pit bull for over a year and loved it. Only a job change caused him to sell. He is now considering a tiny house! I hope whatever you decide it brings you joy. Let us know what you decide. Thea DeStephano Community Team Member

    1. Thank you for your kind words and good wishes. We are going to go for it. "Yaaaaaaaa". Were having our house valued Friday then onto the market. I'm going to contact a firm that makes bespoke ramps, they are use to designing for vans so it will be a new challenge for them and will keep me safe when i walk the plank! on and off our yet to find Narrow boat.

      1. How exciting for you both! I love your attitude of living life young and going for it! Yes, do keep us in touch of your adventures! All the best to you, Suzanne Troy, fellow team member for ParkinsonsDisease.net

      1. What a great idea. I've had a yearning to try narrowboat life since reading LTC Rolt's book "Narrow Boat" many years ago. I only got as far as doing a fair bit of walking on the towpaths.
I hope you have a wonderful new life. Keep us posted.
