Morning low dopamine levels

My wife has had parkinson's for 5 years now and is taking one 25/100 Carbidopa Levodopa every 3 to 3 1/2 hours to take the edge off bad tremors and rigidity. Her neck is bent very far forward now due to a change in her posture because of PD and has a great deal of upper back pain due to that. If she is able to sleep 5 to 6 hours in a row at night she wakes up unable to move and I have to get up and help her to the bathroom. Sometimes not in time. I'm curious what other PD patients take for their last dose of the night to help with the low dopamine levels in the morning. She's tried ER tablets with mixed results.

  1. Hello, I'm sorry to hear that your wife is going thru so much. Here is one article I thought you might find helpful for night time . It was written by one of our contributors who deals with similar issues. I hope this helps. Please keep in touch with how she is doing. I hope others might chime into this post with other helps tips. https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/adjustable-bed

    1. Hi, at 10 yrs, I am on 1.5 pills of 25/100 Carbidopa Levodopa at 6 am, 10 am, 2 pm, and 6 pm. Then at 10 pm only 1 pill. All these with Entacapone. Then at night I have to wake up at 2 am for an Extended Release. This last one makes me able to wake up at 6 am and be able to move to restart cycle.

      1. Thanks. Her current MDS wants her to try the Neupro patch but it's hard to get her to try new drugs because of past reactions to others.

        1. Hi all.
I have had Parkinson’s since 10/20. I is a bitch. I take 2 C/L tablets 25-100 3 times per day. For a while now I have begun taking 1 C/L ER 50-200 at bedtime. All under the guidance of my Movement Disorder Specialist and it seems to be going better. I have not had tremors but lots of muscle stiffness. I try and exercise for that. I hope this helps a little, Blessings, Mike
