Involuntary leg movement, sweating, elevated heart and confusion at nighttime

Every night this happens to my mother; after the last Carbidopa Levodopa 50mg at 7:30pm and trazodone 50mg at 8:30pm. She gets very calm and sleepy at about 9:00pm but she can't fall asleep. She statys awake until suddenly between 11:30pm and 11:45pm she gets the Involuntary leg movement, sweating and her heart beat goes up as if she working out. She gets confused and is unable to communicate clearly. She finally falls asleep at about 12:30am. Would this be a wear off or Withdrawal symptoms from not taking carbidopa all night until morning?

  1. Hi sorry to hear your mother is experiencing these symptoms. I know our community members have mentioned "off time" when it comes to medications. I included an article on this here -https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/six-tips-managing-off-time. If you haven't already, I would recommend reaching out to your mom's physician about the symptoms she is experiencing. As they know her medical history best and could help get to the root cause of what she is going through currently. In the meantime, I included a link to some information on Carbidopa/Levodopa - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/medications/carbidopa-levodopa-therapy. Wishing your mom some relief.
