Incorrect Diagnosis

10 yrs ago a diagnosis was given to me ...Parkinsons. My family doctor prescribed Levodopa 100 & 25 mg. Sometime later I saw a Neurologist. The diagnosis was accepted ad PD. I was recently hospitalized and referred to another Neurologist. Now it is questionable if I have PD. I am wondering how much damage this medication has done !

  1. Hello Rupert, I'm sorry that you have recently gone thru some difficulties with your health. Levodopa is the most common medication for treatment of PD and many people get effective relief of symptoms. However, PD can be difficult to initially diagnosis. It is good that you are getting a second opinion. We wish you the best. In the mean time, the following article might give you some guidelines on your questions regarding medications.

    1. It is a good idea to seek out a movement disorder neurologist for a second opinion. Since we are unable to give out specific medical advice, this doctor can answer your question about damaged that may have been done by taking Levodopa. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. We care. Best, Marc M., Moderator, ParkinsonsDisease.Net
