Caring for mom while she's in memory care facility

My mom is currently in memory care at a assisted living facility. Her Parkinson's dementia has increased her falls and the facility now wants one on one care for her from 2:00 p.m to 10:00 p.m seven days a week. Mom is currently private pay, but will run out of money in six months and go to Medicaid. They wanted to charge us an additional $3,700.00 a month so my sister and I have to cover those hours ourselves. Has anyone else experienced this?

  1. Hi sorry to hear what your family is going through. Hopefully others with any experience will weigh in with any advice they may have. In the meantime, I included some health resources here - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/resources-health. I also included a link to the Parkinson's Foundation. They also have some resources and a helpline that you can call and speak with someone - https://www.parkinson.org/resources-support. and https://www.parkinson.org/resources-support/helpline. I hope something in the shared information proves helpful. Sending lots of positive vibes your way. Kindly, Jessica, Team Member
