The Dublin Neurological Institute at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital is conducting a research study titled “A survey of the attitudes of People with Parkinson’s disease to the use of wearable devices in symptom monitoring”, led by Dr. Conor Fearon, a Consultant Neurologist and a Movement Disorder Expert at the Dublin Neurological Institute at the Mater.
The purpose of this study is to better understand how people with Parkinson’s feel about using digital and wearable technologies (such as body‑worn sensors, smartwatches, and similar devices) to monitor their symptoms in everyday life, and what might help or hinder wider use of these tools. The study is currently supported by Parkinson’s Ireland, UK, and Europe as well as the Michael J Fox Foundation in USA.
The survey:
- Is designed for adults who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease
- Is completed online and takes approximately 15 minutes
- Is entirely voluntary, and participants may stop at any time without consequence
- Collects responses anonymously; data will be kept confidential and used only for research purposes in line with data protection regulations

We extend our deepest gratitude to all those who take the time to complete the survey.
