After three years, 18 falls, two admittances to A&E, resulting many fractures. First it was his knee causing falls. His core became ridged. Finally in February 2023, Parkinson’s disease was diagnosed.

A brain scan identified two old scars TIAs. Since then his blood pressure is erratic. Heart scans, knee, MRIs. Some days his walking is bad, voice goes. He sometimes can’t control his toilet.

Sometimes life is hard

As retired nurse, now approaching 77 years, having nursed my first husband alone with cancer, stroke, diabetes, leg ulcers, sometimes life is hard. In particular since my right shoulder has gone, but surgery it needs would take six months recovery time. Currently been checking out stair lift cost. Four quotes over £5000. I can only wonder where elderly pensions can find this amount of money.

What is annoying is my husband did 22 years in the army. Was in the Falkland’s war. As for me, I have lung disease, asthma. There are days my stress level is so high.
