Support Groups

Our leadership team has an ongoing quest to offer the best support group meeting we can each time we meet. Should we always arrange for a guest speaker? Should we spend more/less time encouraging dialogue based on discussion starters in small groups? How about art or music for enjoyment and stress management? Please join this discussion. We would love to hear about the best meeting you have experienced in your support group!

  1. Lorraine, The best support group meetings I have attended included networking break out sessions. Connexion 21 was phenomenal.

    1. Lorraine,
I have been involved with support groups like AA. Actually I created 1 as I contracted with the Alaska Court System. The court sent me people and if they did not attend they went to jail. So I had a steady population. It was straight discussion. When I ran out of topics I began to read excerpts from the book Mindful Recovery. That keep it going.

      1. Consitancy is key for your participants. They need to know you will be there. I think it is great that you are putting yourself out there to benefit the community. Try having food that is always an attraction.
        Blessings, Mike
