Sleepwalking

I have vivid dreams with movement that Alan Alda mentioned in an interview. I am curious though if there is any statistics on childhood sleepwalking correlating with adult onset Parkinsons? Has anyone done a sleep lab study?

  1. Hi Zebra,
Good questions related to PD and sleep. I'm not sure of the statistics on childhood sleepwalking and adult onset Parkinsons. I have provided you with one of our informative articles on many aspects of sleep disturbances related to Parkinsons: https://parkinsonsdisease.net/symptoms/sleep-problems-disturbances. I hope you find this educational and informative. I can say that my own father with PD (age 86) takes a medication that does help sleep and curb his migraine headaches. I would reach out to your own health care professional to give you guidance on your own sleep issues. Best of luck and please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

    1. Thanks, that was an informative link. In 4th grade I went for a bicycle ride, at 3am, in my pajamas-Dad came after me in his car 😀 My only recollection the next morning when told was a dream involving two friends in the neighborhood. 50 years later I saw a tv commercial (giant japanese killer hornet) and woke up one night with my hand holding my pillow high in the air ready to smash it down on the hornet in my bedroom. Multiple other wild dream experiences. I worry that sleepwalking may happen again.
