How to know that PD is progressing?

How to know that PD is progressing and it is not my emotional situation? How often do I have to see a doctor to review medication?

  1. Hi, - Thanks for your question! It can certainly be difficult to determine how PD is progressing. The emotional toll of PD can be high. You can see from the comments of others on this article (https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/emotional-toll-of-parkinsons-disease/) that you are not alone in this.

Keeping your doctor/neurologist in the loop with any changes or differences in symptoms is very important. This would help determine whether or not medications need to be adjusted. Are you keeping in touch with your doctor in this regard? - Chris, ParkinsonsDisease.net Team

    1. Hi Chris,

Thank you very much for your response. I have not seen my doctor for a while.
However the trembling has increased, specially when I'm anxious or worried about something.
My movements are also slower than before, and I have difficulty to handle a knife and a fork.
I have been diagnosed three years ago, although the symptoms started more than five years ago. I am more affected on the left than the right side.

      Regards to all

        1. Good morning Thea, PD is progressing, but I can still walk without assistance. There are many other things that I need help for. Apart from PD I am fine. I appreciate your email, thank you. Regards, Peet (South Africa)
