Postural Instability

Hi, I dont have Parkinson's but I recently went to docs for vertigo and dizziness.
I had a vestibular evaluation done and the specialist said maybe my vertigo is being caused by menapause and shell send info to my doc.
I noticed on my papers she wrote 3 issues were addressed. Asymmetrical hearing loss, dizziness and Postural Instability.
I've never heard this term so i googled it and all I found was Parkinson's stuff.
After reading the Parkinson's symptoms I realise I have many, but the doc never mentioned Parkinson's.
Why would she put I have postural instability if I dont have Parkinson's?

  1. Hi, - Thanks for your post. I can see how you'd have a lot of questions after your specialist visit. Are you able to follow up with your specialist regarding her mention of postural instability?

While we can't provide you with any medical or diagnostic advice, a Parkinson's diagnosis would come from a movement disorder specialist (MDS). An MDS is a neurologist trained in movement disorders like Parkinson's. An MDS would obtain medical history information, and perform a physical exam or a neurological exam. If you are in need of locating an MDS in your area, we have this article that contains links to online locator tools: https://parkinsonsdisease.net/answers/find-a-movement-disorder-specialist/. I hope this information helps. Please keep us updated if you can. Take care. - Chris, ParkinsonsDisease.net Team

    1. Hi Chris, thanks for your response. The specialist who did the testing said she will forward my results to my primary and I'll be contacted.

So I'll just wait on that. I posted on here out of curiosity about this postural instability.
I only just turned 50 and I'm in pretty good shape so I was surprised to see that she wrote that in the chart.

She didn't say anything about it to me.
After looking it up I realised When I stand with my eyes closed I have a hard time standing upright, I kinda wobble all around. And I have actually fallen a couple times, but I chalked it up to clumsiness. I also do have a tremor in my chin and slight tremor in hand, but chalked it up to heredity because my dad use to shake really bad.
Anyway I guess I'll find out.
