Newbie whining

Hi,
I had a DaT Scan about 3 weeks ago, and it came back with:
Abnormal examination indicating striatal dopaminergic deficiency. Differential diagnosis for a positive DaT scan includes Parkinson's disease, multisystem atrophy, progressive supranuclear palsy, and corticobasal degeneration.

I am awaiting the results of the Alpha-synuclein test results which were taken before then. I am trying to be patient and wait for my appointment at the end of June with the neurologist.
Since the test, I have started having sleep issues, the tremors are now also in my left hand and right foot (when resting on the brake gently at the traffic light.) My vocabulary has dropped. Big words seem to escape me now. Prolonged concentration has been shot for about a year. I've never had mental health issues. For about 5 months in 2023 I had severe mental health issues that one day I woke up, and they were gone. That was about 8 months ago. I get blurry, double, triple vision somedays. My typing which used to be fast is now full of errors, usually the typo is the key next to the one I am trying to actually hit. My hobbies which still appeal to me, I don't do anymore as I just never 'feel like it.' anymore. Small amounts of exercise like yard work, leave me sore and stiff once I sit down afterwards. The only info I was able to pry from my neurologist basically said that that my DaT scan is just a moment in time. I understand he can't go into much detail in a short email.
It may seem odd, but I think I would be comforted if I just 'knew' what's going on. I don't know if I have PD, Essential Tremors, or one of the 4 variants that fall under the Parkinsonism umbrella. Today at work for instance, I was able to concentrate well on a task for about an hour and a half. Now I feel rotten and tired. Anywho, I guess I just wanted to vent. Thanks for being here. Hopefully, It's just that bad Egg Salad sandwich I ate from the vending machine last year that's causing this and it will go away soon. (Just kidding)

  1. that is what we are here for you - to listen and provide support in any way we can. I know others in our community have mentioned finding some peace in knowing what is actually the root cause of their symptoms. You are not alone in feeling this way. Hoping your appointment this month proves helpful at getting the root cause. If we can ever help locate any PD related information, please reach out. Wishing you well. -Jessica, (Team Member)
