How do you find some help?

The last few months have been the most difficult to get through. After seeing my Consultant in late October he confirmed that my PD was getting worse. Taking this in took several weeks. I was far more tired, my mobility decreased, I was very weak and exhausted. Then, just after Christmas I had flu for a week.

Over the last few weeks I have hardly had the strength or energy to get through each day. I have seen my GP and after having blood tests texted me to take some vitamin D tablets. I know I need some help and support but just do not know where to start. If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks

  1. I am sorry to hear that you are going through such a difficult time. Perhaps your GP can give you a referral for a more thorough evaluation. Your local council for the aging or the Parkinson Foundation may also be possible resources. Although it can be a slow process you may be able to get started with a telemedicine appointment once you find a provider. If you can find a movement disorder specialist that would be for the best. It can be frustrating trying to find where to begin but don’t stop trying. I wish you all the best and please let me know how you do in your search. This community cares about you. 1. Thank you for your question, ever hoping Pete. You may have done so already,, but have you consulted with a movement disorder neurologist to get a second opinion on your symptoms? These doctors specialize in treating PwP. Best, Marc M., Moderator, parkinsonsdisease.net

        1. Hello,

You may consider an alternative approach with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) approach.

          ------

There are three main causes of Parkinson’s from a TCM viewpoint:

          1. Qi and Blood Deficiency, which is caused by emotional stress, anger, frustration, and resentment.

          2. Phlegm-Fire Agitating Wind, which is caused by dietary considerations such as consumption of too much greasy, fried or sweet foods.

          3. Kidney and Liver Wind; Deficiency, which is caused by overwork and insufficient rest which unbalances the body’s natural rhythm.

The healing approach will change as the disease changes. However, the starting point is to keep a strict diet in place, perform Qigong (Chi Kung) for elevating the Qi and Blood Deficiency, elevating the Kidney and Liver Yin Deficiency, and acupressure for stimulating the brain and spinal column. [In layman’s terms, here is what I was getting at: The liver was overworked and not cleaning the blood well (Blood Deficiency). As a result of the blood being deficient, it was not bringing the body the proper nutrients and oxygen, thus causing the body to be weak and fatigued (Qi, life energy, Deficiency). The physical part of the healing methodology was to heal the organs and bring the body back into balance so blood and Qi would no longer be deficient and the body again would be vibrant].
