Good and bad days.

Can you have good and bad days even though you are not on any medication.

  1. Absolutely I have experienced some days when I have lots of energy and can socialize with friends and others when I am in pain or just too fatigued to do much of anything at all. I take no PD meds but am on mild doses of Clonozepam and Zonisimide for another movement disorder. I think it is important to remember that meds don’t cure Parkinson’s but just relieve symptoms. Good and bad days are to be expected unfortunately. I hope you experience more good than bad.

    1. just wondering why no meds

  2. Is it OK to hold off medication as long as the symptomps are manageable? I may have a mild form of parkinson - mainly mild tremors and stiffness back pain. I have yet to seek a second opinion before making a decision whether to start medication. Stiffness and back pain have been been there since I has a spinal fracture three years ago. In anycase, flexibility and muscle strength is also affected by age (I will soon be 60). If meds do not cure and just relieve symptoms - I wonder if I can manage without them for a while and see how it goes? I am doing my daily exercise and keep myself happily busy - that helps me a lot.
I would like to learn from other members if there are any who have been able to manage without meds?

    1. I would suggest you get a second opinion. We are not qualified to offer medical advice and what works for me may not be right for you. Best wishes , Thea DeStephano

      1. Thanks for your suggestion, which of course I am working on. I am totally new to this world of Parkinson - still trying to process my diagnosis and educating myself. This forum is about sharing each others experiences and learning from others' posts. It has been very helpful.
I'm not seeking medical advice. I am curious to know what others think with respect to their own condition.

        1. hi I have yet to get a diagnosis, and I have very mild symptoms, I am currently waiting to have a Datscan in a couple of weeks. All I know is I do not feel the same with what I thought was weakness on one side, but my neurologist says it is slowness, and if it is early symptoms of Parkinson's I will not need to take any medication as yet. I will have to wait and see as I've always attributed everything to a trapped nerve as I have pain and stiffness, for over a year now in my neck, but the mri shows mild stenosis with no pinched nerve, and the neurologist says it usually starts in the shoulder rather than the neck?
