freesing gate

This week I came up with an idea to help me with my worsening freezing Gate issue.
This may sound strange and simplistic, but If I wear only one shoe it cuts down on my gate freezing by about 80-90%. I was not having any issue while going up or down the stairs so I was trying to think of something to occupy my brain while walking as this was possibly what was helping me on the stairs. Mind you it has only been about 5 days I have tried this but WOW what a instant relief. Also I have just tried wearing two different shoes too and this seems to help a lot also. Know i can wear two different shoes to ACME!
Please let me know if this is helps with your walking at all

    1. Boy I need to proofread next time, got a little excited!

    2. no need to apologize! We all make typos from time to time! Again, we appreciate you being here and sharing. Wishing you a lovely day. Hugs, Jessica, Parkinsonsdisease.net Team Member

  2. What a great idea. Do you think that the one shoe or two different ones helps you focus on which foot you need to move? It is certainly a solution others may wish to try. Although I no longer have freezing issues , I used to pretend I was stomping in a mud puddle. It appealed to my sense of humor! Thanks for sharing your unique approach.

    1. I used to take care of a woman with PD. I would assist her when standing from a chair and she would freeze, I would rock her side to side to stimulate movement. Very similar to stomping in puddles I guess! Anything to get the brain kick started I suppose. (: All the best, Suzanne Troy, fellow team member
