Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery

My neurologist has asked me to research deep brain stimulation surgery. I would really appreciate hearing from those of you that have had the procedure. I’m open to anything that will give me more mobility. I’m 62 years old and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 2014 but I believe I’ve had it since 2010. I was hospitalized last fall because I had become severely constipated for several weeks totally rendering all my Parkinson’s medications from working. It’s taken a long time to get strong again and then all of a sudden off time starts again and it’s not getting better. Thank you all for listening

  1. I am on the same boat as you, diagnosed on 2017, but had signs since 2010, when it all started progressing. I would like to know about it as well

    1. Hi , hopefully others here in our community that have experience with DBS will weigh in. In the meantime, I included an article on DBS here - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/clinical/deep-brain-stimulation-pros-cons. Please feel free to use our search feature to find other articles on the topic. Wishing you well. -Jessica, Parkinsonsdisease.net Team Member

      1. DBS fantastic! I have five years experience with it, I'm 59 and I can safely say I would not have made it this far, on the odd occasion when I need to turn it off you would not believe the difference...

        1. Regarding DBS from my five years of experience I can only say do it, changed my life...
