Parkinsons Medication and Compulsive Gambling

During the last 4 years with Parkinson's I blew up all our family retirement savings that I worked so hard to save up for 40 Years. I was stupid to fight a losing battle with the Nupro side effects. Nobody was aware of how bad my problem was… Not my wife not my Children, not my Neurologist not even myself. I dug a hole so deep and I kept pulling my near and dear ones down with me. I have caused so much grief to my wife and children.

  1. This post is intended to trigger awareness for caregivers and patients about some of the things that we do not want to talk about but can be devastating.

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience with Nupro's side effects. I am sure you have done so already, but did you report your side effects to your doctor when experiencing these side effects? I am so sorry that you caused grief to your family. Wishing you better days ahead... Marc M., Moderator, ParkinsonsDisease.Net

      1. Thank you Marc, yes it has been a roller-coaster ride the last 2 years since the pandemic. Virtual visits ONLY with your Dr. and Neurologist for essential issues ONLY - Self isolation and social distancing has not helped most patients in similar situations. My Neurologist and Physician are since aware. It was not a very comforting experience as it only gave me more guilt and disgust for my self. Thanks to my very supporting and caring wife who rang the bells. I am now off Nupro and I to compensate doubled up on my levodopa intake. But I don't believe that is the answer. I think it could be Nupro or any other Parkinson medication that has the risk factor. I am positive that there are a number of people like me out there suffering in silence.

        1. Thank you Marc, I am seeing a social worker and it helps. However, I would like to use my experience to help others in similar situations

        2. Thank you for your comment. I will present your question to the higher levels of the administration for you. As soon as I hear back, I will contact you. Regards, Marc M., Moderator, ParkinsonsDisease.Net

      2. In subsequent posts I plan to share my journey with you all as it will be 5 years since I was told that I was going to join this group PD... Nov 2016. The day I prayed so hard for God to give me the strength, courage and confidence to fight it and never give up. My simple prayer was that I would do anything humanly possible for just another day to be able and stable.
