(Trike) trichloroethylene

I worked in a factory in the north east of England. I was exposed to TCE trichloroethylene for about 13 years. Back in my youth in the early 1990, working on a trike tank hand dipping items to be cleaned of oil and grease. I'm not suffering from MSA multiple system atrophy parkinsonian, or Parkinson's plus as it's sometimes known. I've been told it could lead to about six to ten years of life left for me. Once I was diagnosed it was a nightmare with health issues not only physical health but mental illness. I breathed vapor and had skin contact with Trichloroethylene, due to poor health and safety issues with previous employer at the time. I was a happy go lucky youth that just got on with his job. My employer had little interest in his employees, or health and safety, his interest was only in profit. I was just a kid at the time, to the day I die I believe he knew what would be my outcome. He didn't care, the only thing he wanted was profit, money and greed. He reminded me of a Charles Dickens character from a novel with a fat red faced pompous selfish overweight man, whom looked down at you. He thought he could buy people with money. Now I'm left with MSA Parkinson's. Please can you give more info on trichloroethylene.

  1. Hi I am so sorry to hear what you have endured. Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of info on trichloroethylene. The articles that speak about the chemical I included here - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/military-veterans. And https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/eliminating-pesticides. I also shared a paper on the topic here - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10041423/. I hope this is helpful. Please know we care and are here for you. Kindly, Jessica (Team Member)
