Protein

Newly diagnosed last month, trying to read everything I can and talk to people. One question, I read in this article about limiting protein intake. Since I'm diabetic. I eat protein everyday and use as a quick snack. Please advise.

  1. Hello we understand your concerns. We cannot offer medical advice via the internet for your safety. If you haven't already, this would be an excellent question to bring up with your physician, as they know your specific health status best. In the meantime, I did include an article that speaks on the role of nutrition and diet with PD - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/treatment/nutrition-diet. I also included an article on protein intake and PD medication here - https://parkinsonsdisease.net/clinical/protein-intake-levodopa-absorption. There are some PD medications, like levodopa, that protein intake can impact its absorption. I also want to take this opportunity to welcome you to our community! If we can ever help locate any other information or simply provide a listening ear, please don't hesitate to reach out. We care and are here for you. Kindly, Jessica, Team Member
