Cannabis as an aid to controlling Parkinsons

Good day. I am an 87 year old man. I have had Parkinson’s for about 20 years. Fortunately my condition is not severe. I would describe it as around 6 on a scale of 1-10; 10 being severe..

Recently, someone recommended that a couple of daily doses of Cannabis Oil would help in controlling Parkinsons. Unfortunately, nothing was mentioned about how big a dose to take, whether or not the person making the recommendation took Cannabis Oil himself or gave any further information.

I’m very keen to try anything that could help control Parkinsons. Does anyone have any experience of using Cannabis Oil or know anyone who has?

If so and you would be willing to talk about it, I would be very grateful to hear from you.

I live in Johannesburg, South Africa.

With kind regards,

Chris

  1. Chris , my son just introduced me to a CBD salve that eases joint and muscle pain. You use a very little bit and it has worked wonders on my severe arthritis pain. My pain management Dr approved of my trying it.My husband has begun using it occasionally as well. The brand is called Joy . He was sent a sample after making some inquiries, so I am not sure where it can be purchased. I will get you more information from my son and be in touch. Thea DeStephano Community Team Member

    1. Hello Thea, thank you for commenting on my Cannnabis comment. I am so pleased that the dosage you take is so successful in controlling your severe arthritis pain. Fortunately, I do not suffer from arthritis pain (yet!). However, I do suffer from pain when trying to walk normally.. The pain ranges from "light to almost severe". My daughter has three horses. In the light of what I told her about Cannabis use she has started to give me a daily dose of Cannabis Oil which does seem to be beneficial in helping to overcome the walking problem I have. I should mention that my daughter uses Cannabis Oil on her horses so is an experienced user!
I use a small amount of C Oil day: a couple of drops in the morning and a couple of drops in the afternoon. Keep well and safe. Chris

      1. Chris I am glad the oil is working for you. I am considering a gel capsule that is also supposed to help with joint and nerve pain. I see my movement disorder specialist Monday and will check with him.It doesn’t contain THC. Thea

      2. Chris I just began a daily oral supplement. Joy organ ix which is THC free. It’s a capsule that helps with joint and nerve pain as well as easing anxiety. It has only been a few days so I am not sure it’s working yet. My neurologist and PCP approve as I have had no adverse effects. It can be found online Thea

        1. Hello Thea, Thank you for mentioning the oral supplement you take. I am an "innocent abroad" when it comes to matters Cannibis. I searched the internet starting with Joy organ, etc. It was a revelation to me. Overall, I learnt so much about the benefits of using CBD Oil, the amount of Product to use taking into account the body weight of the patient and so on. I found that there is a Product Fair every year in Johnnesberg, which I will attend. I feel very positive about the future, Thea. CBD, although not a mirical cure, used wisely can be a help in not letting Parkinsons take over your life - hope I'm not too confident . . . Beat wishes, Chris
