balance

I have no tremors but fall frequently and balance is not good

  1. I empathize with your bouts of falling, Ned. I experience falling sometimes. You may have done so already, but have you discussed these symptoms with your movement disorder neurologist? Do you get physical therapy? Regards, Marc M., Moderator, parkinsonsdisease.net

    1. I have a physical therapist 2 days per week. She is great!

      1. That is great, NedW. Physical Therapy exercises are a great addition to PD therapy. Keep up the momentum started by working with the PT. Best, Marc M., Moderator, parkinsonsdisease.net

    2. I am at high risk for falling due to another movement disorder. PT exercise has been a tremendous help although I do need to use a rollator in the house and a wheelchair for outdoor outings. Hopefully your PT will allow you to not need additional aids.Keep up the hard work. All the best,

      1. Ned,
Last week I went to a new Physical Therapist. I go twice a week. My walking has been slow. I use walking sticks to stay balanced and avoid falling. She suggested I use humming or even a radio to keep in rhythm. I have been doing that for a week now and for me it makes a huge difference. My Gait is lighter and I feel quicker. I will keep you all posted on my progress. I have also started acupuncture which seems to work.
        Blessings, Mike
