Antibiotics causing delirium

My mom, who is 80 and has been living with Parkinson’s for 5 years now, recently got a UTI. We had the worse experience with the antibiotics causing her to go into full blown delirium. I’ve since learned that’s common with antibiotics, especially with Parkinson’s. If anyone could provide some feedback or advice I highly appreciate it …

  1. my heart goes out to you and your mom. <3 I can imagine how difficult this must be for you both. We cannot offer medical advice via the internet for your safety. If you haven't already, we always recommend reaching out to one's physician with new or developing symptoms. Others who have any similar experience may weigh in and provide some feedback. In the meantime, I can across a systemic review about UTIs and delirium that I shared here - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9827929/. I also shared an article written by one of our amazing health advocates and his experience with a UTI -https://parkinsonsdisease.net/living/uti-experience. Wishing your mom some relief.
