Where do you turn when you feel that you have no support?

Where do you turn when you feel that you have no support from family and you feel that you are close to rock bottom?

  1. Hi , we appreciate you reaching out. I am sorry to hear you feeling this way. You are not alone in feeling lack of support from loved ones. Others in our community have echoed similar sentiments. Hopefully, others will share their experiences. In the meantime, I thought I would share some potentially beneficial resources from the Davis Phinney Foundation for PD that can be found here. Also, the Parkinson's Foundation's resources page may be helpful as well. Both of the included sites can help assist finding with local resources, information, and any other PD related questions. Please don't hesitate to reach out if we can help you locate any other information and know that we are here for you. Wishing you well. Kindly, Jessica- ParkinsonsDisease.net Team Member

    1. I feel you . I am in much the same situation. I have allowed myself to reach out to friends and ex-colleagues and not see it as being a burden or weak (hard!). You find out who will respond and to what degree. Then build a support system around it. I have also volunteered with both medical research and other agencies. The last is joining Meet Up to make new friends. Hope that’s helpful.

      1. Thank you Jessica, I appreciate your response and I will look into the info you sent me. A lot of the problems that I have with support here in not really understanding PD. I have educated myself and continue my research. My task now is to get others around me up to speed on this. Again thank you and I will write again soon and let you know my progress.
